Our Legacy: 50 Years of Innovation and Impact

  • 1975

The Group’s journey began in 1975 with our founder, Mr. Sanjay Trivedi, an IIT Kanpur engineer, who pioneered the production of surfactants and specialty chemicals in India. Starting with Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and EDTA, the company rapidly grew, supplying major brands like Hindustan Lever and Colgate Palmolive.

  • 1984

Headquartered in Mumbai, Mr. Trivedi, established Trivedi Enterprises Pvt Ltd in 1984, to offer engineering and consulting services for surfactant and specialities. A continuous film sulfonation plant for alpha Olefin sulfonates was set up for Dharamsi Morarjee Chemical Company at Roha in Maharashtra. This was one of the first plants set up for making a new surfactant molecule using olefins.

  • 1989

By 1989, global collaborations began with Chemithon Enterprises Inc., resulting in over 20 sulfonation plants across India and installations in countries like Nigeria, Germany, South Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia. Technical support was also extended for projects in China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea. Projects expanded by building a fractionation plant for fatty acids in Uzbekistan, an edible oil refinery using palm oil at Beira in Mozambique and a continuous fixed bed hydrogenation plant in Malaysia. There were pilot plants FOR ALKOXYLATION built for majors in Malaysia and Singapore.

  • 1994

The Group appraised and carried out feasibility studies for over fourteen (14) projects IN EAST, WEST, NORTH, SUBSAHARAN AND CENTRAL AFRICA for Soaps, detergents and Edible oils for International Finance Corporation (IFC) through Africa project development facilities AND Exim Bank of India from 1994-2004.

  • 2002

In 2002, the JV in India built the first plant for control of particulate emissions from a coal based thermal power station at Ukai, Gujarat, India for the Gujarat state Electricity Board. The annual ash emission reduction was over 500%. Similar plants were setup at four other State Electricity Boards in Punjab, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, at twenty-nine Thermal power plants nationwide and also at three privately owned thermal plants. The efforts were lauded by across the Thermal power plants industry in India and expertise was extended to similar plants for Eskom in South Africa.

  • 2008

In 2008, a JV in Singapore with Chemithon Enterprises Inc, expanded the business of sulfonation plants in Malaysia and Indonesia. The business diversified to include oleochemicals and specialities plants from renewables and technical services in SEA, MENA region, South Africa and Australia.

  • 2014

In 2014, Mr Trivedi bought out the equity in the JV in India and Singapore from Chemithon Enterprises Inc and the company in Singapore changed name to Technithon International Pte Ltd (TIPL).
